La description

Nehavand, located in Hamadan Province, Iran, is a city with deep historical roots, dating back to prehistoric times. Archaeological excavations at Tepe Giyan, a site near Nehavand, have revealed settlements from as early as 5000 BC, showing continuous habitation over millennia.

During the Achaemenid period, Nehavand was part of southern Media, strategically positioned on the road connecting Babylonia to Bactria. The ancient historian Strabo noted that it was re-founded by Xerxes the Great, emphasizing its importance in Persian history. Under the Seleucid Empire, the city was transformed into a Greek polis, known as Laodicea, with magistrates and a governor overseeing its administration.

Nehavand played a crucial role in Parthian and Sasanian history, serving as a stronghold for the House of Karen, a noble Persian family. It was also the site of the Battle of Nehavand (642 AD), a decisive conflict during the Muslim conquest of Persia, which led to the fall of the Sasanian Empire.

Today, Nehavand remains an important city in western Iran, known for its historical sites, agricultural significance, and cultural heritage

The rugs produced in Nahavand are meticulously handwoven using top-quality wool and showcase elaborate designs and patterns. One of the key distinguishing features of Nahavand rugs is their color scheme, which predominantly comprises earthy hues such as beige, brown, and rust. The designs of these rugs are typically geometric in nature, featuring medallions, diamonds, and other angular shapes. They often display a central medallion surrounded by a field of smaller motifs, while the borders are typically adorned with narrow stripes.

Nahavand rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability and ability to endure heavy foot traffic. They are also highly prized for their capacity to maintain their vibrant colors and intricate patterns over time. Given their superior quality, Nahavand rugs are frequently coveted by collectors and interior designers alike.

In essence, Nahavand rugs exemplify the exquisite craftsmanship and artistic flair of traditional Persian rug weaving. They are distinguished by their intricate designs, premium-grade materials, and impressive longevity, making them a truly magnificent addition to any interior space.
